Katongo Bwalya

Dr. Katongo Bwalya is a lecturer in Physical Education and Sport at the University of Zambia and Executive Chairperson of the National Organisation for Women in Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR). She holds degrees from Havana, London Metropolitan University, and the University of Zambia. With over 15 years of experience in sport and education, her work focuses on empowering girls and marginalized groups through sport for development in Southern Africa.

 

A 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow, Dr. Bwalya has led regional and international programmes on gender equity and sport leadership. She also serves as an Executive Board Member of the International Council for Sports Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) and guest lectures at the Norwegian Institute of Sport Science (NIH).
