Afro RED
Formed in 2008 in Lusaka, Zambia, Afro RED has gone from strength to strength with their Afro-fusion Jazz sound.
Afro RED consists of founder, bassist, and composer David Kasochi, lead guitarist Joshua Zimba, Manasseh Phiri and Luka Mwansa on Keyboards, drummer Frank Phiri with Lisa Phiri and Shimron Chungu as well as Natalie Mbewe on vocals.

The band received critical acclaim for their 2013 debut album, ‘Moment of Truth,’ winning the coveted ‘Best Jazz Album of the Year’ at the 2015 Zambian Music Awards, as well as several band members receiving individual awards in the years that followed.
Sir Jones Kabanga won awards for best lead guitarist on two occasions, while David Kasochi won the 2016 edition as best bass player in the Zambia Music Awards.
As well as achieving this commercial success, Afro RED have consolidated their place in the Zambian live music scene, having played alongside jazz legends such as Earl Klugh, Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi, and Hugh Masekela. They have also performed at the electrifying Stanbic Misty Jazz Festival.

In 2020, Afro RED released their second recording album titled, ‘Homeland’. ‘Homeland’ perfectly showcases Afro RED’s emotive sound and is the product of their musical journey since the release of their debut album, drawing on the traditional music of Zambia and Kalindula, as well as their signature Jazz sound.
