Mulenga J

Mulenga is a Zambian visual artist based in Lusaka. Working across painting, sculpture, video, photography, installation, and performance, her practice draws on personal archives, memory, and material experimentation to examine identity, selfhood, and origin. Through layered processes of stitching, assemblage, and mark-making, she reimagines historical and contemporary narratives that engage themes of gender, sexuality, spirituality, female ethnic discourse, and the ongoing impacts of human interaction with nature.

 

She is a three-time Ngoma Awards winner (2019, 2022, 2025), including Most Outstanding Female Artist and Most Outstanding Two-Dimensional Work. Mulenga has exhibited internationally and is a member of the Insakartists Trust, a collective dedicated to promoting Zambian artists locally and internationally.
